Explosion in Rush was created by JohnONeill
Hi,
There was reports of an explosion in Rush, Co Dublin last night with some houses damaged.
Just to elimate any causes, did anybody observe anything unusual in the sky (e.g. bright meteor) anywhere in Ireland, particularly along the east coast.
I was in Dublin City at the time.
John

No, though I did hear on the radio this morning that the 'explosion' sounded more like a thud. One caller on newstalk said it sounded "like a child falling out of bed upstairs"!

When I heard this on the new this morning, my thoughts were immediately of a meteor strike - due to the description. Seems I wasn't alone thinking this, though it'll probably turn out to be something more mundane. Luckily the destroyed houses were under construction, and not occupied.

Turns out Met Eireann said it was a 'freak weather accident', whatever that means.
