Oh Declan I can do a whole nights imaging on a full battery! No worries there and you can always get another battery to hold in reserve!

Hi Declan, I have my 400D since June, but I have never let the shutter go that long.

You see - the colder it is, the shorter the battery life as cold really slows the battery down, so in summertime it would last that bit longer.

Anyway - I've ordered to more replica batteries form the net from, so I won't run out :D

You'll never run down the battery on a bulb exposure, unless the battery was already discharged when you clicked the shutter.

I've run exposures of up to 10 minutes, and numerous 30s+ shots all night long, and seldom have to recharge the battery until after 2 or 3 nights of shooting.

A spare battery is always handy for emergencies (like when you've started a shoot and forgotten to charge), but you'll find that you'll seldom need it if you plan ahead.
