What a beautiful clear night tonight. I didnt even take the telescope out tonight just a pair of binoculars and a chair my whole garden is lit up in the moonlight. At times the moon looks better without a scope :o

Frank and I got a good look at the moon though the clubs 12" dob with a 26mm eyepiece which easily gives us the entire moon at a glance, no binoculars could beat it. A nice sky, even if it is lit up like a Christmas tree by the moon.

I always say that a 10X50 binocs gives a far more beautiful view of the Gemini region around M35 /Propus/Tegat than any scope.

The vast field of the binocs brings it out.
Like looking out over a bottomlessly deep and wide panorama.

In a truly dark sky (the stars like "Diamonds on Black Velvet") it looks 3-D.

(In even slight light pollution, as in 90% of Ireland, that effect is wiped out.)

It was patchy cloud here (Daingean, Offaly) when I was out for a walk, and then setting off to work (between 22:00hrs and 22:30hrs). The thin rays of Moonlight peeping out between the clouds were nice to see. Cloudy this morning though...
