Tuned in and ready to go.
Fair play to Dave Fanning,
he's lashing out the Pixies tunes.
I heard that guy on the Ian Dempesy breakfast show
give it a rave review.
It's supposed to be on in Cork.
Anybody know where?
I'd be on for a spin down to catch that for sure...
any takers?

Nice one Dave!
I've booked to see it at the IFI Saturday evening. Looking forward to it.

Typical - I just wrote a bunch of great stuff and IE crashed...
I'm not long in the door but the show went great - a bit rushed 'cos Dave ran out of time. He's a gas man and we had a good old chat before the article.
I was hesitant to give you folks a review before the show tonight but I can really sum it all up with this:
Go and see this - you will NOT be disappointed.
There you go. A Saturn V launch in Dolby Digital Surround Sound with Mega Bass will have the hair on your neck falling out! Footage is like it was shot yesterday. Astronauts talk as if you were in a bar chatting over a beer. No jargon, no technicalities, just the emotion of it, including funny bits (Aldrin was the first man to pee on the moon), touching bits (Apollo 1), shocking bits (Vietnam) and real down to earth descriptions:
Mike Collins " We arrived at the launch tower. It was normally crawling with people. On the day of the launch it was empty. Did they all know something we didn't?"
Astronaut: "Riding the Saturn five was like being a rat in the jaws of a monstrous terrier".
This isn't a cheerleading Uncle Sam, Stars 'n Strips, Mom's Apple Pie movie. It shies away from being that - its about Mankind's achievements and that notwithstanding "An Inconvenient Truth", "Sicko" and "Bowling for Columbine", we can actually do some good stuff too.
Music is superb, filming is superb and we owe a lot to the guys that trawled through 10,000 reels of NASA film to pick out the best.
One shot that stunned me is the last two lads on the moon. One of them is standing in front of a mountain with the black sky in the backround. The shot then zooms out 'til he's tiny. Its really jaw dropping.
The sting in the tail however is the very limited showing of this film. It opens in the IFI Dublin Friday (2nd), it might show in Parnell St. Dublin, but no guarantees. It will open in Queens, Belfast on 23rd November. Its also pretty well served in the rest of the UK... That's all the info I could find.
Do whatever you can to see this film - you'll not regret it.
If you simply can't get to see it, I guess you'll just have to wait for the DVD. In the meantime, check out the excellent trailers on the following sites:

Cheers
Dave

Heard it all Dave.
It was a great few mins of airtime.
Well done again.
Can't wait to see it. A must-see & hear in the cinema, by the sounds of things.

Went to see it this evening with Dave & Fiona.
Great film! Well worth going to see! Must get it on DVD once it's released.
I'd also highlly recommend you get the DVD box set series "From the Earth to the Moon". That's simply fantastic.
