Do you want a real Mind bender Tony.

If you left Andromeda in a space ship capable of 99.9%Light Speed and were flying alongside one of those photons of light all the way from Andromeda 2.3 Million Light Years to earth then the trip would only take a few years if even that. Any Cosmologists and experts in Relativeity and Time Dialation here to do the Math?. From that photons perspective which is actually traveling at the speed of light, it only left andromeda a few seconds ago!!

From our perspective here on Earth. Say we sent a signal to Andromeda at the speed of Light to tell the spaceship to come imediately to Earth. The Signal would take 2.3 million years to get to the Ship at Andromeda. Say they left for Earth imediately traveling at 99.9% the speed of light. It will take them more than 2.3 million years to get here from our perspective. When they Arrive it will have been nearly 5 million years since we sent the signal for them to come. As far as the aliens on the Andromeda ship are concerned, their trip only took a few years.

Another example would be this. How would you ever find an Astronaut prepared to make the 1600 Light Year Journey to the Orion Nebula. Surely he would be couped up on a ship for his entire life and so would his kids and his grand kids and his great, great, great.........etc Well no you don't need an Astronaut prepared to do that. You actually just need an Astronaut prepared to make a trip that will last a few months from his perspective but who is prepared to come back to Earth 3200 years after he left. Think Charlton Heston in the Original Planet of the Apes.

Why an astronaut? There's a few people I wouldn't mind persuading to do the journey

We should have a poll for which user here we'd like to send. If not andromeda then anywhere without a computer would be good
