After one look at this planet any visitor from outer space would say; "I WANT TO SEE THE MANAGER".

British science fiction writer Sir Arthur C Clarke has died in Sri Lanka at the age of 90.
He was the author of more than 100 fiction and non-fiction books, and his writings are credited by many observers with giving science fiction a human and practical face.
In the 1940s Clarke maintained man would reach the moon by the year 2000, an idea dismissed at the time.
'Great prophet'
British astronomer Sir Patrick Moore had known Sir Arthur since they met as teenagers at the British Interplanetary Society.
Sir Patrick paid tribute to his friend, remembering him as "a very sincere person" with "a strong sense of humour".

Hear hear Dave,i also heard the sad news earlier,
and it seems all the more tragic to loose someone
who was beyond influence enough to be able to think
outside of the box in a world that's becoming more
homogeneous by the day
RIP Arthur C. Clark (1917-2008)

Like most out there, I would not have developed an interest in astronomy without the influences of dreamers and great thinkers and Arthur C Clarke was both of these. I probably read most of his books as a child and teenager. Sad to hear he has left this earth...Rest In Peace Arthur, you gave me hours of pleasure and a lifetime of dreams.

BBC Radio 4 this morning broadcast a last farewell from him to all this friends.
It was recorded a few weeks ago.
He could hardly breathe.
You could tell that his time had come.
Must try and look up a transcript of it and post it here.
