Hubble Space Telescope. was created by pj30something
I was ready the paper today and a little snippet of info about Hubble was printed. It said that the telescope is so powerful that it can read the fine print in a newspaper from a mile away.
I thought that was pretty cool.
I'm all for keeping the telescope going as long as possible. It has shown us things and taught us things about the universe that we would not have seen or known about without it.
Mind you im excited about its replacement.............the name escapes me right now.

There's the catch about Hubble: it is a great little instrument, but using 20+ year old parts in some of its systems means expensive maintenance. It's something the James Webb as its replacement will be better on, meaning less fuel and craft expenses on it during its lifespan.

Thanks Seanie.................the James Webb scope is to replace Hubble(i couldnt remember the name).
Hubble is expensive to maintain (as good as it is).
The James Webb scope will be fitted with the latest technology and will even be able to see in Infra-red. Not to mention its mirror will be about 3 times the size of Hubbles.
You cant help but have feelings for Hubble though.
Much as i love Hubble.............bring on the James Webb.

Better that old people should die of talk than to have young people die in war.

I hope that they don't just de-orbit it.
It would be great if they decided to push it into a parking orbit, where it might be retrieved by future generations and placed in a museum.

Anybody who says that Earthshine is reflected Sunshine is talking Moonshine.

The JWST had better work perfectly first time.
It will be located at the L2 Lagrangian point 1.5 million kilometers from Earth.
It cannot be reached by astronauts for servicing:
