I suppose the thing I was getting at is this....If Jupiter is often refered too as our solar system vacumn cleaner (catching a fair share of asteroids and the like,) then our sun must perform a more dramatic roll - and have done so over tme. Would a large object be torn apart before it struck or or would it get absorbed I heard that when or proto disc was forming it reached a point where it blew out a ring of gas and dust as it ignited its nuclear heart. this traffic jam of dust and gas started to collide and accreate? is it the aggregate effect of our solar system bodies that reduces the risk of too much stuff reaching a star systems sun
