They should vote again!
*duck*
Seriously how can over half of any sample of people in the modern world get that question wrong? It's right up there with asking: Is the world a) flat b) round.

Still, you can't judge a nation by a single man
But 56% of the audience agreed with him!
They should vote again!

Would be interesting to see the result if Pat Kenny put that question to a Late Late audience!

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Never underestimate the capability of a group of people to surprise.
What does this say about the teaching of the sciences in France?

So Al, what's the answer? Surely b is incorrect?
Anyhow, I was wondering what the heck he chose the Sun for. I would have chosen Venus - so even I learned something new today...

C'est encroyable!!
I'm more shocked that 56% of the audience got it wrong. All the more reason we have to get out there and educate folk!
I joined a French bulletin board a while back and in fairness I don;t think the nuts that were on that programme are representitive. I gotta post this over there

Dave et al,
This is a very bad reflection on society and I am not sure what the root of the problem is. Is it poor education? Is it television which it is geared towards stimulating our minds the wrong way? Is it a migration away from the basics (ex. reading)? Is it a lack of reasoning?
As noted by others, what is shocking is not only this fellow's ignorance but the fact that 56% of the audience was equally clued out.
Sad, sad, sad!
