Unfortunately there is no defence against the complete idiot. Green lasers days are numbered.
I have been following the new legistlation in Australia where they look like they will make an acception to the need for a laser licence to members of an astronomical society provided it is used for astronomical activities (and not taking out airplanes, dazzling grannies or setting small fires;)

Yes sadly, it's going that way. It is not the members of astronomical societies who will spell the doom of green lasers....but the idiots who purchase them as toys.
