I was contacted by someone in Sweden about linking to the Observing Challenges . . . that might be the reason for the high traffic. Will post a little more about this once I get back home this weekend.

Doubt it, from the web stats it _seems_ that there are a lot of very siecific hits on the site, sending specific queries rather than just browsing as the number of hits or visits is not unusually high, number of sites visiting is.

Its been noticed on several other sites also, but the developers reckon that the site should be safe since Bart has kept the site up to date. There are steps that can be taken to bring the visitor number back to normal, but thats something that we must wait for Bart to decide upon. Everything still appears to be working fine, so carry on regardless!

Cheers,

I'm here all on my own,
I guess everyone else has either gone boosing or stargazing
The first decent clear night in weeks would come on new years eve of course. :?

Superb clear night here as well, by the time I got the tripod erected the cloud cover was as thick as ever!

Managed to spot the comet on my way home from work just before 3am this morning. It was quite low near the horizon, but I did manage to spot it with my 8X50 bino's. It was very nice and clear!

Sorry to rain on theparade guys but the "guests" count is fundamentaly flawed in phpBB. It counts how many times a non-logged in member has loaded the home page. Just log out, hit refresh a few times and watch the count rocket up!
