Hi there,

there was a weekly series of a magazine with parts to build a solar system orrery, conversation is here:

www.irishastronomy.org/component/fireboa...ew&catid=40&id=64821

Probably too late to subscribe to that. Did you try a search online? I found this online:

www.orrerymaker.com/index.htm

Hope this helps,

Seanie.

As it happens I had a good look on the web to avoid having to subscribe to that orrery magazine as its abit expensive but to my surprise I couldn't find a half decent orrery unless you want to spend a complete fortune. So I had to go for the magazine, maybe you could order back issues?, it over half way through at this stage.

Yeah, Seanie. I saw that site too when the mag. selling the parts 1st got mentioned.

D,
I bought a neat little orrery from the Armagh table at Whirlpool go & found it v. good.
It's called Planetica, is ~5inch in d. and cosists of a black plasric disk with 7 ball bearings which represent the planets out to Uranus.

You can choose any date within ~20 years & input this by means of rotating a clear protective plastic cover. This allows you to see the planets relative to one another of course, but it also tells you where they are relative to the constellations.

It cost ~€20 at the time, though a quick net search didn't yield any results of it now.
I didn't see anything on Armagh Obs.' own site either.

It was brill before the pc planetaria became readily available, & is still great to just throw in the bag. B)
