Our first images of an alien planets outside our solar system was created by John D
Hi there folks,
Seems these are the first (very faint and fuzzy) planets outside the solar system, along with a multi-planetary system. Imaged by the hubble space telescope and the geimni observatory along with the keck tlescope.

Hopefully this will lead to a lot more extrasolar planets images

Getting there slowly but surely. wonder how long before earth sized planets, or planets in a habitable zone are imaged directly.
Think of how far it has come in 20 years, with beginner astronomers able to get images of planets with off the shelf equipment, and more advanced amateurs able to grab super Deep sky images of objects that were not visible 25 - 30 years ago.
what will we be able to see in another 25 years?
sure is an exciting time to be alive! lets hope warp speed is discovered soon, that would make it much more exciting!

Between now and the launches of the terrestrial planet finder and the Darwin missions is an exciting time. These two missions will open up new ideas and conceptions of exosolar systems and exo planets in general.
