Merry Christmas to you all!
I got two wonderful astronomy related gifts..One is a huge picture of the horsehead nebula ( 1ft x 2ft) my sister bought for me in Armagh Observatory and the other is a book entitled ' The Planets : A journey through the solar system ' by Giles Sparrow. It's really fascinating, contains everything you need to know about the solar system along with beautiful images.
Hope you all are enjoying your christmas!

Wishing you all a joyful Xmas and clear skies for 2009.
In fact, claer skies are also coming soon to the west of the country tonight.
There is also a window of opportunity for clear skies for the next few nights.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Santa was a little extra generous to me this year, the streetlight that stands no more than fifteen metres away and stares down on me like a sentinel, blew. That's number two, the one to the south blew some months ago and that only leaves one.
Now, I'm left in a quandry, should I call the council first thing on Monday morning and inform them, or not?
What do you good people think?
