Exactly, Frank! It only gets better when you are too far from any pubs and any civilization, when you have the chance to observe until almost sunrise, and the only option after the observation is to go sleep!

Hi all,
I would like to (re-)contribute with a call for participation at Mt.Parnon Star Party in Greece, 11-13 July 2010. This time it will be an even bigger event than that some of you have attended 2 years ago. It has been decided to be the year's national star party, and is organized by two clubs: Sparta Astronomy Society (my new club) and Orion of Patra.
We will have astronomy workshops, lectures from astronomers, free lunch or dinner, astronomy retailers kiosks, etc.
Soon there will be a web page dedicated to the event (containing a couple of pages in english, too).
There is no participation fee for anyone, there is free staying at the refuge (for limited nr of persons) or at camping tents (unlimited). And there is an option for hotels, at the villages nearby. Since the organizing committee will be very very busy (you can understand that!), we can not provide free transport from Athens Airport to Mt.Parnon this time, so those of you who come will have to rent car(s) or a mini bus.
Stay tuned. The page URL online soon.

Sounds good Vangelis, I'd certainly be up for it. Keep us all posted and closer to the time, if you guys want, we'll increase exposure for you here. :)

Hi Vagelis.

This event sounds amazing.
Even without all the other events it is so worth it!
I'll be seriously planning to attend next year
as I'm sure will some of the other lads that attended before.
I think it might also be an idea to offer this trip to
our club members and talk about the possibility of a
club trip.
Worth the discussion im sure at the least!

Next year I hope to rent a car and take the lovely
drive up the mountain again!
Looking forward to it!

This sounds great, I could do with a serious good deepsky observing session.
We're gonna anounce it at the next club meeting and see if we can whip up some interest .
