Has anybody seen this piece on the news ?

I hope its not going to be another light polluting nightmare like the original.

I find it hard to understand why anyone would seriously consider investing in this kind of venture right now.
A Casino, racecourse, greyhounds, 5-star hotel, concert venue and golf course. Hmm, we don't have any of them do we?
With the banks not lending, NAMA about to swing into action, 400,000 people unemployed (and rising), taxes about to go up, interest rates about to go up... There's a lot of people out there who are seriously worried about whether they'll make it through Xmas in one piece - they won't be thinking about spending a weekend at a 5-star hotel, losing their shirts to the bookies and/or at the tables, listening to the latest talent from X-Factor and topping it off with a 48 over-par...
I can't see it happening any time soon myself. But if/when it does, I'd hope the light-pollution laws/planning will be strengthened so it doesn't impact the locality and the night sky.
And as for the White House replica, puuurleeeeez : blink:

Ara let 'em off,
it'll keep a few people in construction and service jobs
for a while at least.
Think of all those light bulbs that will need changing.
There is a job alone for someone!
Actually,
I had to Laugh out Loud
(or was it Rolling on Floor laughing my ass off)
can't remember - but anyway -
when I heard on TV3 news that up the country somewhere a town
was to go 'Lights Out' for some pumpkin festival.
All I could picture was Al White sitting having his tea
in front of the telly crying into his baked beans.
This country is bananas.
Boomtown Rats were on to something alright....
