Small world.... was created by jeyjey
My neice recently talked me in to putting up a Facebook page, and I ended up in contact with my best mate from high school, who I haven't talked to in 27 years.

So, you know, we do the usual catching up: married, kids, moved to Ireland, etc., and he mentions that he works for a defense contractor in Colorado doing nuclear survivability and satellite hardening stuff.

"Oh, cool," says I, "I'm an amateur astronomer."

"Neat," says he, "my companty worked on some telescopes too."

"Do tell."

"We built all the instruments and the corrective optics for the Hubble and we're currently working on the James Webb." (!)

It's funny how our lives can take such different paths, yet they're so deeply coloured by who and what we were back in our late teenage years that they can end up so related.

That's amazing! Small world indeed.
I suppose you didn't ask if he had a beta version of the Hubble lying around....
