Mad amateur astronomers !! was created by johnomahony
Are there any members out there mad enough to brave the ultra cold weather and try to observe or image tonight?
I'm trying to image so I am positively bonkers. Man is it cooooooold !!! :gramps:

Yip mad, my thermometer reads a balmy -8.4c outside.
Make sure you dont break a sweat, it'll freeze before it evaporates.

I had genuine plans to bring the scope out the back tonight.......

.....that was until I went for a walk up to the snowfield on Bray Head with the dogs. Brought my 15x70 Bino's along to look at the stunning vista of the Alps....eh I mean Wicklow Mountains. On the way back down, I slipped, and what should have been a reasonably painless but embarresing fall on my arse, became an excruititing pain in my Kidneys because the bino's hanging over my shoulder around my back broke my fall instead of my arse. Twas lick being kicked in the Kidneys full force with steel tipped boots.

In other words, I won't be lifting any scope anywhere tonight. Can't even go out with the Bino's instead. The fall while not physically damaging them, knocked them out of Collimation.

Despite the madness I did manage to get some results. This is a quick 5 minute processing of tonight goodies.

M45 again. This time with 45 minutes of 5 minute subs.

Rosette nebula. 17 x 5 minute subs. The fog rolled in on my 18th frame (just like golf!!). I was aiming for at least 24 frames.

Levels and curves only in Gimp. That's pretty much all I know how to do.....
