I like the backdrops of the hill of slane and newgrange with the aurora, vrey artistic.

Yes, I thought the one with St. Patrick was rather ironic because the aurora was green . . . :wink:

Anthony, I'm in Kingscourt, I saw it as well through breaks in the cloud at 10pm, a faint green glow streching all the way along the northern horizon. Pity about afterwards, what with the moon --- then the rain --- then the fog----

Guess that's why I like comets so much.

They hang around for weeks usually, so even if the weather's bad for a few nights you're bound to get a break. Aurora, like eclipses and the like, can be totally obliterated by the weather. Apparently it came from the biggest x-class flare on the sun since 1989?? :?:
