A few seconds to help Simon Singh? was created by eclipsedan
Hi guys,
You may or may not know that our friend and eclipse-chaser, Simon
Singh (author of Fermat's Last Theorem, The Code Book, Big Bang etc.) has been in a spot of bother with a libel case for a pretty innocuous piece he penned in The Guardian about the British Chiropractic Association.
You can read the details here:
www.senseaboutscience.org.uk/index.php/site/project/340 .
Simon is fighting for a reform of the crazy English libel system and I thought it would be nice if some of his prominent astronomy friends would sign for him.
The petition, which only takes a few seconds, is here: www.libelreform.org/sign
All the best,
Daniel

Done.
I had the pleasure of Simon's company a couple of years back in Dublin for a couple of beers and a nicer guy you wont meet.
Shame how those with endless funds can just walk all over the ordinary guy. At least Simon has some resources to fight back. Most people would just have to swallow their pride and apologise.

Thanks Dave,
If you know any big names in astronomy, would you mind passing it on to them?
Cheers,
Daniel

A word of caution Dan: as yet, I don't know what the other IFAS committee members think yet, but I would refrain from trying to draw too much attention to this topic if I were you on this kind of forum. Yes, I know, some members here might know of Mr. Sing (I don't), but this website cannot used used as a tool for petitioning or any other kind of media, politcal or apolicital activism. I edited your other post about the eclipse shot which had the link embedded to this thread.
This isn't a warning, just a cautionary remark, that's all! I might stand corrected on this yet.
Cheers,
Seanie.

Apologies Seanie. I won´t mention the topic in any other thread but I´d appreciate it if we could leave this link here so people can decide for themselves.
I certainly don´t want to pressure anyone into signing but considering that he´s such a good friend of the astronomical community, I´m sure some people here would appreciate knowing his situation.
