It’s a very interesting topic and I fell everyone is in agreement. I wish I could say things are looking up in the future but in fact, things seem quite bleak. I could picture the face of a minister when we ask for a few spare million to build a planetarium in Dublin.

What made me think about this topic was that a few months ago; I visited my first planetarium in Bangkok of all places. I loved the experience there and they were celebrating the 40 year anniversary of the museum.

Well, I’ve just booked a flight to London to visit the Greenwich observatory, which includes the new planetarium, so guess I’ll have to make the best of what’s close to us.

Many thanks for the inputs on this topic!

Wasnt the planetarium in Madame Tussauds closed down 2 or 3 years ago and turned into a jurassic museum center, or something to that effect. Planetariums can often struggle to stay alive.

Seanie - not sure what you mean by a "science center" but there is the Science Gallery in Dublin...

I didn't know about the Science Gallery, Dave. What I was referring to are those big indoor arenas where visitors get a hands-on approach to science. I have been to the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto a couple times ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontario_Science_Centre ) - it takes about a day to get through everything in it. A science centre would have daily 20 minute talks, get kids involved, experiment with physics etc. with subsections on just about anything, that kind of stuff.
