The only man on Earth to see exploding comet was created by artyfarty
I though this might be of interest to some of you when things go quite during your 9 to 5...
An amateur stargazer has captured the moment a comet exploded in space - an event missed by the world's professional astronomers.
Musical instrument designer Nick Howes, 40, used the internet to access an online telescope as he sat at his desk in his office.

Thanks for posting this John. Only came across it yesterday but didn't realise he was the only person to capture it. For those who were at Solarfest last year, Nick presented a talk on solar filters and imaging. Nick is a Senior Test Engineer for Yamaha R&D in the UK and has written numerous articles for Astronomy Now magazine. I have had the good fortune of collaborating with Nick for a while on the design of ATM solar telescopes incorporating PST etalons & ERFs. It's a great discovery and just shows what can be done by amateur astronomers. Pity though that the "Deadly Maul" have got a number of facts wrong in the article, but no surprise i suppose.
