Telescope House What A Shock was created by lunartic_old
Hi all

I ordered a Powermate from Telescope House over the weekend, I got an email from them this morning stating that the shipping to Ireland would be £30 .: angry: I nearly choked, this is not a scope but a Powermate, needless to say I cancelled the order immediately as I'm not prepared to pay such a ridiculous shipping cost.

I'd hate to order a telescope off them.

Yes, if the value of the goods is above a certain amount they dispatch by insured courier. You could ask them to send by royal mail and take the chance. Telescope Service were much cheaper (€18 on all small packages) but the Sterling exchange rate is good at the moment.

Isn't funny the way things are charged for. I'm getting an AP1200 with a 54inch pier from Stay Focused in the UK delivered for 70Euro on a pallet. But yet a small thing such powermate cost 35euro I don't understand this sometimes.

Hi John,

How are things down under. I got the mount for all the supernova and asteroid work I have coming up.

Sound great Carl.
I'm in Limerick at the moment trying to pack up the house contents for shipping. Heading to Melbourne in 2 weeks time. I am absolutely knackered.......
