Hi John,

WOW I will never forget the stress when moving house and that was just moving a few miles up the road. It's mentally draying. I can't imagine how much it's costing to get everything sent over there. Paul get a quite from telescope house.:P

Carl

That's a good rate.

When it arrives you should take note of the details of the shipping agent. I suspect this was done under groupage - generally the bigger and heavier - the better value you get under groupage.

I'm getting an AP1200 with a 54inch pier from Stay Focused in the UK delivered for 70Euro on a pallet

I would have no problem with paying this amount for the weight of gear you are getting, but we're talking about a Powermate here, it can't be more than 20cm by 10cm by 10cm in size and weight only a few grams, and to charge €35 for this is a joke.

Hi Paul'

I fully agree with you. I was just stating the difference between getting an AP1200 delivered and a Barlow you should give Ian King or Telescope Service a try or the lads in Stay Focused. When it comes to astronomy equipment these are the only lads I trust.

Carl.

I got an 11 lb counterweight from Telescope House and the shipping charge was minimal. The cost of the weight was below their cut off for insured delivery. If I remember correctly, Ian King charges a fixed amount and Telescope Service is about €18

I've just ordered the Powermate from Telescope-Service, they offered €15 off the price and shipping cost only €19. What a difference. Typical Germans?

Keep Telescopehouse as I'd never go near them again.
