Hi Frank,
I did the B.Sc. in Physics & Astronomy (now Physics with Astrophysics, I think) in NUI Galway.
If you have any questions feel free to send a PM!

The course needs to be on the approved courses list which is on the Revenue website and should be work related if it is to be deducted as a business expense (consult your accountant). If it's not work related you can still get a tax concession (around 20%) when you submit your normal tax return (keep the fee receipts and make sure they are in your name).

If you are doing a recognised course (which the Revenue publish a list of )and it is required for your work and you are self assessed you can deduct the cost on your tax return as a work expense. Best to talk to an accountant in advance.
Never knew that John, I am also self employed and thought about distance learning but did not know it was deductible.

only 18?, that doesnt seem like alot.
A full time college degree in UL is 48 modules, thats full time over 4 years.I suppose it would literally take forever doing that many modules part-time.

Dave. The BSc (Hons) in Astronomy at UCLAN
by distance learning is 6 years.
I've applied for this as it's the only course
You can do by distance for a BSc (Hons)
I've had great communication from both UL & NUI but
Unfortunatly it must be full time with them.
As for how many modules etc.
Conn can better answer those q's.

Yes it is 18 modules and in Frank's case over 6 years that is pretty tough going at 3 per year on a part time basis.
If you had a maths/fizzix background it would be a considerable help.
