Dr. Bopp presents Hubble image to Lord Rosse

Dr. Thomas Bopp accompanied by some members of Shannonside AC
dropped in on Lord Rosse today on the way to the Burren for the
SAC Starparty this weekend to present him with a gift of an image
taken by Hubble and processed by Dr. Bopp of the Whirlpool Galaxy.
(what an image!! All 205 MB of it!)

Lord Rosse gave us a 3 hour personal tour of the grounds, the science center and finally a drink in the castle (accompanied by a visit to the document room : blink: )

In all the years of going up there... I never realized just how much
as you say they contributed to, not only Irish History and Science but INTERNATIONAL history, in sciences of Photography, Astronomy, Botany, Engineering, Seamanship, the list go's on...

It's a crying shame SAC could not afford to run the starparty there
but shur..there you go.
Some Ex-Members are trying to fly the flag... more power to 'em.
