Northern Lights NOW!!! was created by Keith g
Hello All, as I am writing this, there is a FANTASTIC Northern Lights Show Visible in the Northern Sky. It all started at 6.50pm this evening October 29th, multiple green-white pillars of BRIGHT STRONG LIGHT, too many to count. Got a shot of it too!! )

Absolutely amazing!! My first time seen one. Took a few snaps of it, each about 1-2 minutes long. Is that sufficient?
Appears to have died down a litle in the last half hour. Taking a tea-break and trying to warm up my hands a little - very cold out there - before heading out again shortly.
One thing that surprised me is that it was mainly white in colour, not like the greens and reds you see in books - is that because film is more sensitive to colour than the eye or can auroras be more colourful??

Just back in from the cold. Took a few more snaps. The colour really kicked in there for a while. Two distinct red patches to be seen between Auriga & Gemini and also over near Albeiro. A very distinct pillar of light appeared just to the left of Cygnus for a couple of minutes. I thought for a sec it was someone next door with a flashlight! Unbelivable! Took another few snaps of Lyra, Ursa Major, Orion rising over the horizon and Gemini. Will get them developed in the coming days. Won't be expecting too much though as it's my first attempt at film astrophotography - up to now I was a digital man!
