As an experiment, I tried using my WO Megrez 72 as a zoom lens with the new Canon 7d for general daytime photography. I used a field flattener for the shot. This is a 30% crop from the full frame. I was amazed how sharp it was and how good the edges of the frame were. This was a 1/400 sec exposure at ISO 100 at prime focus. Not bad for a 300 Euro scope compared to a zoom lens at several times the cost.

Hey John,
It's a great little scope. I have one myself.
Those are some really nice photos.

Great shot John. Those small WO scopes are brilliant. Try a hyperion zoom on it and you've got a great little spotting scope for birding. Used that configuration with a WO 66 in the past and it's like watching a nature documentary.
