Glow in the west?

Glow in the west? was created by galwayskywatchers
Just after driving home from Castlebar in Mayo noticed an unusual bright glow in the West, similisr to a twilight glow, but the sun is well below the horizon, the Moon is rising but it does not look like a counter glow from Moonlight, anyone else see it?

I think that what you are seeing is the Zodiacal light. Did the glow follow the line of the Ecliptic? If it did the this was more than likley the expaination.
It is rarely seen from these latitudes as the ecliptic is rarely steep enough above the horizon to see it. We in Kerry Astronomy club saw it at our last observing session. See www.kerryastronomyclub.com for the observing session report of that session.
