I trust it will be clear tonight at the Sugarloaf. Met Eireann says there will be long clear spells developing after sunset on the east coast.
I hope Paul and others will see the conjunction.
As I am up early in the morning, I plan to set the scope before 10pm across the road. My guidescope gives 6 degrees field of view at 11X. So I will be able to fit the Moon, Spica and Mars in it. I won't be bothering using high magnifications on Mars -it is covered with a dust storm. However Rupes Recta is inside the terminator -it is my favourite lunar feature.
Also northeast of Heze (Zeta Virginis), is a double star Struve 1757 (typical me to suss it out). A is 7.8 magnitude, B is 8.8. The separation is 1.8" and PA is 138 degrees. It should be a beauty.
Finally, I shall be definitely zooming in on Ceres and Vesta. I shall report back tomorrow evening to see how we all got on.
Clear skies,
Aubrey.

Good luck tonight Aubrey.
I'll be out tonight with the 20" to see the Ceres-Vesta conjunction, its definitely clearing form the west
and have you seen the Moon, looks like a nice phase for detail.

Plato, Timocharis and Rupes Recta all close to the terminator.
Sadly it is cloudy in Dublin at 9pm. A clearance is coming from the west though.
I wonder if it will reach us.
Aubrey.

We had a heavy shower about 40mins ago, but now it has cleared up nicely, not a cloud in the sky : cheer:
I assume this is heading your way.

Well, would you believe it, Dave? Dublin had rain at 22.30. And now at 23.10, we have no glimpse of the Moon; let alone asteroids or dwarf planets.
I shall try again Sunday night.
Aubrey.
