Hi All,
My wife (of all people) just made me aware of an I.A.S. event on at the Papal Cross, Pheonix Park on Wednesday 17th October (tomorrow). It's a family event and starts at 19.45.
Just thought I'd let y'all know.

As a quick report on last nights event..
Really good. Fair few scopes set up, i think 6 or 7. Guys were really helpful. Newcomers seem to get a great kick from seeing the moon and Mars. Saturn too, although of course, it's not at its most magnificent at the moment.
My young lad got to see the Andromeda galaxy, the double cluster (cheeky request from me) and a beautiful asterism called E.T. or NGC 457. Must admit, i thought this was an excellent view. Im sure most of you have seen it before, but if you havent, give it a look. I loved it and will return to it with my own scope soon.
Clear skies
Sean

Hi Sean.
I too was in the Phoenix Park last night.
Sorry I missed you. I arrived a bit later. (After 9 pm).
Some of us saw Rupes Recta (The Straight Wall) on the Moon.
It is 110 kms long.
It always stops me in my tracks.
Well done on observing Mars, Saturn and NGC 457.
The latter reminds me of an owl in flight.
See you around, Sean.
Aubrey.
