The Day We Landed on the Moon
RTE 1 July 20th, 2019
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing, RTE will broadcast two
hours of television on July 20th, live from Blackrock Castle Observatory in Cork.
At the moment 50 years previously that man landed safely on the moon, we will relive that momentous human achievement. The programme will celebrate Ireland’s contribution to the moon landing, and space exploration, past present and future.
If you have any mementos of that event, especially any film or cine footage of the
landing on TV, or any similar footage of the excitement of the time, we would love to hear from you. Or if you have any stories of close encounters with moonwalkers or memorabilia of the moon landing we would also love to hear from you.
You can contact sarah.b@indiepics.ie or phone 01-7088181
We hope that many of Ireland’s vibrant amateur astronomy community will take part in the show, or tune in to the programme… if you’re not out moon gazing that night.
