Roundwood Cemetery was created by michael_murphy
While checking for the directions to the Shay Elliot memorial I noticed
Roundwood Cemetery
.
There is a car-park outside so it might be worth a look at some stage.
There is a house nearby so there could be some lights.
Michael.

That's a great find Michael... I'd love to give it a try some night.
Clear skies,
Darren.

Looks to be a good spot. Maybe not in winter, Roundwood gets some icy roads.
Roundwood, Kilmichael, Shay Elliot, Sugarloaf and
Trooperstown, I think we have all weather conditions covered.

Hi guys, hope all is well.
I have stopped by Roundwood Cemetery before but discarded it as an observing location as it was a busy enough road despite the wide open area outside the walls. There are some streetlights too. Inside the Cemetery would be better but you'd probably have to get the okay from someone.
John

Hi All,
Following on from recent posts here, but prior to reading John's message, I took a spin out to the cemetery to get a feel for what it would be like as an observing spot.
In addition to what John mentioned, the trees surrounding the car park are higher than I thought. So objects low on the horizon are out. I also noticed that carpark itself showed doughnut-shaped rings from cars messing about. Shame really because the car park is big and flat, and I can't imagine wind would be a much of a problem as the car park is surrounded on all sides by trees, walls or hedgerows. In saying all that, I would be happy to give it a go some night, and if it didn't work out Trooperstown and Sugarloaf are only short drive away.
One last thing.... Anyone interested in making a plan for Saturn's opposition next week? No worries if not, I just thought I'd ask.
Clear skies,
Darren.
