Hello Darren.
I desperately tried to split STT 111 last Tuesday night and that was after seeing all 5 components of Lambda Orionis once again at 112x.
(STT 111 is directly north of Lambda).
But no! I had no joy whatsoever. Sorry, Darren!
Not even at 280x or 320x.
And I observed STT 111 for a full 20 minutes.
You see, my problem is that delta magnitude of 4.
I should say that my scope is perfectly capable at splitting doubles whose separation is 2.8".
But when the secondary is a full 4 magnitudes fainter than the primary I seem to have great difficulties.
I don't when we will have clear skies again, but I would encourage you to have a go with your 10" Dobsonian and maybe produce one of your famous sketches, Darren.
Monday night next we might have clear spells, but there is an IAS meeting happening.
So I won't be observing.
I do plan to have another go at STT 111.
Clear skies from Aubrey.

Hi Aubrey,
Very many thanks for your message. I'm sure if someone like you is having difficulty splitting STT with 'Galileo', there's no hope for me.
However, if it is clear tonight I'll be out observing from about 9pm. Unfortunately, I can't make the meeting tonight, but maybe next time.
All the best,
Darren.
