Kildare Astronomy Society

Mission Statement.

Kildare Astronomy Society (KAS) was formed by a group of like minded individuals that saw a need to have a more organised structure serving the needs of astronomers of all levels in the Kildare region.

Our society has a number of aims:
1. To introduce Astronomy to interested people in the region by holding practical observing sessions open to all interested parties advertised locally.
2. To hold a series of talks both practical and theoretical open to all interested parties
3. To seek involvement with local science promotion bodies and schools to promote the hobby of astronomy to the wider public through involvement in workshops, local events and through the involvement of local schools in observing sessions.
4. To further the cause of astronomy nationally through our links with the Irish Federation of Astronomy Societies (IFAS) and locally through direct links with our sister associations in the midlands.
5. To have Introduction to astronomy Observing nights open to people interested in astronomy or who wish to learn how to use their equipment.
6. To get out as a group as often as we can to look up at the sky and share our interest and knowledge.

It is our goal to use the membership of the association to provide practical assistance to the members of the association to better the understanding and skills of all the amateur astronomers in the association and to encourage more people to look on astronomy as an enjoyable and worthwhile hobby.

Anything that helps to promote the public's interest in the night sky is to be welcomed. Good luck.

But it makes sense. Can't have that in a mission statement. Try a simple oneliner

We envision to synergistically leverage astronomical based resources such that we may endeavor to proactively initiate innovative paradigms to promote astronomy.

ok perhaps your was better Jim!

Look's good to me Jim.
Dave Power, can you forward me the members email addresses if you have them.
BTW do we need to start another thread.
I think we should try and keep info together or even maybe start using email while we are in set up mode.

1. To introduce Astronomy to interested people in the region by holding practical observing sessions open to all interested parties advertised locally.

how about

through the use of concrete over cognitive techniques to endevour the impartation of astronomical visual aquision techniques on an uninformed mass of beings provisionaly designated Homo Sapiens.
