bah humbug - you have to pay for StarOffice. Use OpenOffice ( www.openoffice.org ) and do it all for nothing :P

Depends on a lot of things; your outlook on open source being one (take it all for free, or pay a little to keep it good and free). Its not much different from whether you want to pay RHAT or SuSE for their full product or just take what they give for free... It wouldnt be open at all only for sun :-)

You also need to pay for staroffice because of the third party stuff that Sun has had to pay licences for to use in it.

Anyway, just pick one of them :-)

The staroffice 8 beta (read: free download) is at www.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/beta/

Openoffice 2 beta is at download.openoffice.org/2.0beta/index.html

Cheers

You don't actually Steve! If you go through about 10 more clicks (ok, an exagerration) on the site, you can download it for free as a student. The charge is only to business and corporate users.

And, it doesn't crash like Word!

10 clicks... bah...

Why don't I get paid as much as the marketing guys...? :)
