January/February 2004 issue of Arcturus in preparation was created by johnflannery
hi everyone,
thanks for creating this forum Bart.
the idea of having Arcturus as it's own forum should be credited to Wally Mee and we hope it will be an area where people will post articles, letters, observations, etc. that can be used in the actual bimonthly magazine.
the January/February 2004 edition is currently in preparation and the content will include;
- an article on the Nov. 23rd total solar eclipse from Antarctica seen by Dan Lynch
- a number of articles on celestial and spaceflight highlights of 2004
- an account of the recent major aurora displays
most of the material is being prepared by myself and I am hoping to whip up a bit more committment from people to agree to contribute material on a more regular basis. This is your magazine so anything on everything astronomical is always welcome.
if we could get a pool of maybe five regular contributors we would have a fantastic base on which to build a good quality publication that is going out to clubs and individuals free. Arcturus is becoming a good advertising vehicle for clubs where people can see what's happening in their area.
if people are happy with me doing this, I propose to glean material for publication from the various threads running on the board forums. There's lots of interesting discussions happening on the board and we can edit it down to maybe a page entitled "Best of the Boards". Of course, it will be completely apolitical -- i.e. we'll omit any of the discussions on other clubs and concentrate on the astronomy.
any contributions and ideas welcome!!!
