damn, I thought no-one from Dublin would notice . . . I might juggle the order, show them upsidedown, or reverse some slides and do a "do you know what constellation this is" -- ah, endless possibilities to keep the talk going on and on and on . . .
the main talk will actually be, "A Decade of Wonder" -- a sort of stroll through the astronomical highlights for Irish amateurs since the early 1990s. Most were naked-eye sights; various good returns of meteor showers, the very dark lunar eclipse of December 1992, comets Hyakutake and Hale-Bopp, and, yes, THOSE aurora!
the talk will also look at the highlights for 2004 for Irish astronomers including the Venus transit, two naked-eye comets, enhanced rates from the Perseids maybe, and two lunar eclipses being just a few.
if I show aurora slides for more than an hour then you have my permission to escort me from the building
best,
John Flannery,
SDAS
