hi folks,
Damon O'Shea in Balbriggan has kindly organised an observing session for this Friday, 5th March, out at his place. All welcome and if interested, contact Damon through damonoshea ata eircom doto net (replace "ata" with "@" and "doto" with "." -- to beat the spammers).
Damon is trying to get an observing group going on the North side of the City to compliment the current sessions that are generally more convenient to those living Southside in terms of distance to travel.
although the Moon will be near Full, it shouldn't interfere with observation of the planets and the brighter deep-sky objects. Jupiter is just a day past opposition too while there's some lovely double stars to be seen in the Winter sky. I saw Beta Monocerotis for the first time through Paul Tipper's Dobsonian last Friday night and it's a delightful triple-system. Thanks Paul for pointing it out to us!
best,
John Flannery,
