Advanced Observing Program (AOP) was created by dmcdona
Folks - as a first step in announcing the AOP, a presentation was given at Whirlpool last week. The presentation highlighted what the AOP is about, the main observing elements and how folks could 'register' their interest in contributing to the program.

As a second step, I have posted the presentation on my website (to avoid hammering the IFAS bandwidth :D ) for anyone who couldn't make the Birr presentation.

www.astroshack.net/downloads.php

Please take a look and if you have any questions, comments or wish to register an interest, use the contact details on the website above to drop me a line.

Over the coming weeks, we hope to get the Supernova Search project of the AOP up and running. We require skills in many areas. You do not need to have any equipment at all to contribute. If you feel there is a skill to offer, please feel free to offer it!

Cheers

Dave

Firstly I'd like to thank Dave for his excellent talk to SDAS last night. I'm not the only one to say this but it has kind of rekindled enthusiasm for the hobby.

In that vein I'd like to register my interest in the AOP, solar section.

Thanks Wally and glad you enjoyed the prez! I've registered you for the Solar section.

For all other potentially interested folks, I'm about to head to Galway but will be back Sunday. Please feel free to post any interest here, via PM or using my email address. I will respond to any questions on Sunday.

If you could send on the following details, that would be really helpful:

Name
IFAS Club (if any)
Contact numbers
Email address
Modules interested in (choose one or more:
Supernova Search
Variable stars
Extrasolar planets
Meteors
Comets
Solar
Lunar
Planetary
List skills, knowledge and experience as you see fit

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for a great talk last night. As Wally said, I think the AOP will really rekindle interest in 'active' astronomy here in Ireland.

I tried downloading your Powerpoint presentation on about the AOP from your website, but the file-link downloads your Astrophotography.ppt file. As I couldn't get to Whirlpool this year, I'd love to have a look at the presentation.

All the best,

Phil.

Hi Dave,

I tried to download the power point presentation but when I click on the link:

AOP - Advanced Observing Program (1.5 MB) it opens the astrophotography file ...

Is there something wrong with the link ?
