"Comet Swan a recent visitor to our skies, but previously only visible in telescopes or binoculars has brightened significantly and is now visible to the naked eye. This has come as a bit of a surprise to astronomers who think that the sudden brightening in the comet was caused by its close approach to the sun, which caused the comet to crack and release lots of ice and dust. It is this ice and dust reflecting sunlight that causes the comet to shine. If you live away from the bright lights of town, then go outside at sunset turn west and look halfway up the sky where the comet looks like a faint fuzzy star. To get the full impact, turn a pair of binoculars on it, and you should be able to see its tail and greenish atmosphere. For further information or help finding the comet visit
