Astro photography was created by Liam
I know its been discussed here before and at meetings etc but I have just purchased a Philips ToUcam PRO 2 and I am looking for a web site or instructions/advise on making the best use of the Cam and of software AstroAlign, AstroStack and Registax 2.
Should I make use of the software that came on CD with the Cam?
Is there other software I should be using?
All suggestions welcome..... (within the bounds of decency of course!)

Hi Liam,
I'd recommend that you start off with the software that comes with the camera, keep it simple.
For the beginning, forget about the telescope and just use the camera in daytime and get used to the brightness/contrast controls.. etc.
Practice recording shots in daytimeof your back garden so you can get a feel for it, use it as a "video camera.
If your having difficulty, seek help from your local IFAS club, this sort of help can't be given over posts or emails, you need experiance.
Once your happy with that, you'll be in a much better position when you hook it on a telescope..

Thanks Dave and Conor for your advise etc. Actually took some nice pics of lunar surface two nights ago and I impressed myself!!!
The daytime idea is sensible... Dave. I recall using my C8 in daylight a number of times to get used to setting it up and setting the finder etc.
It also allowed me to get an idea as to what exactly each eyepiece was capable of.
Web cam in the garden tomorrow........................
Conor.. I will indeed give you a call.
