Lunar Observing programme was created by ftodonoghue
Hi all.
We are thinking of trying to get some structured lunar observing into KAC. Maybe using the S&T lunar 100 as a starting point. Just wondering if any other clubs have similar programmes or would be interested in pursuing this together???
I did up a rough lunar 100 a while back
This is designed to be printed on A4 / A3 and laminated. Front and back pages below.
www.irishastronomy.org/user_resources/fi...1160658368-page1.pdf
www.irishastronomy.org/user_resources/fi...1160400591-page2.pdf
I also came across an excellent document on observing the lunar 100.
www.eastvalleyastronomy.org/downloads/OTL100.pdf
It provides an observation checklist and a list of the features sorted by best viewing opportunity. Tonight for example is night day11/12 of the lunar cycle. This guide tells me that the features best observed tonight (day 11) are
11 Aristarchus
17 Schroter’s Valley
22 Aristarchus Plateau
39 Schickard
42 Marius Hills
44 Mersenius
57 Reiner Gamma
86 Prinz Rilles (Rimae Prinz)
91 De Gasparis Rilles (Rimae De Gasparis)
Anyone / any club interested?

This is great timing,
I'm giving a talk on Lunar observing next week in the SAC in limerick and will include this if that's OK with you, those 2 pdfs look great!.
What the document for figuring out the craters available for the night ?
I'll try and whip up some interest for this and see what happens.
