Hi the next meeting of Galway Astronomy Club takes place next monday
night at 8pm at the Claddagh Hall, Claddagh Quay, see our website for
map and is the start of our Spring Lecture programme with a talk by veteran Astronomer Dave Mc Donald
Talk Entitled: "The Science of Amateur Astronomy" .
Dave is Chairperson of Kildare Astronomical Society and is an
accomplished amateur astronomer who in a recent poll was voted Irish
Astronomer of the Year 2006. The previous year he co-discovered
supernova sn2005EP in the constellation of Draco, a first for an
Irish amateur astronomer. Dave and a number of other Irish amateur
astronomers have set up an Advanced Observing Programme that
encompasses supernova searches as well as more advanced observing
