Thanks to Dave McDonald was created by NeilP
One behalf of the EAAS I would like to express our thanks to Dave who travelled all the way up to Co Antrim to give us a talk. It was a great talk and very much appreciated by all our members in attendance. Dave pitched his talk just right to grab everyone there, it was very entertaining and informative.
Thanks again Dave

I'd like to add my thanks to Neil's comments.
A long, long trip for Dave to make to speak to us.
Dave also helped us by presenting Honorary Memberships of the EAAS to two of our most esteemed members, Robert Dick, who helped form the EAAS and was always on hand with valuable advice in his camera and telescope shop, and John Mc Connell, veteran astronomer and Chairman of the EAAS for some eight years.
Dave has also imaged the Asteroid McConnell, named after John, and showed motion footage of the asteroid during the talk.
Robert Dick, Dave Mc Donald, and John Mc Connell at the presentation.

Certainly the honours for John McConnell And Robert Dick are very well deserved - they contributed enormously to the EAAS and to Astronomy in Ireland - it's the least that can be done to thank them for their sterling efforts.
A small point of correction if I may - the First Honorary Life Member of the EAAS was the late Andrew Trimble whose name of course lives on in the title of the February lecture which is always presented by a Professional Astronomer.
Clear Skies,
Paul.

It was a great night and a great start to our new season! It was wonderful to see the well deserved honorary memberships being presented to John and Robert by Dave especially, as John said, Dave had captured footage of the McConnell asteroid which he showed at the talk.
Many thanks to Dave for a great talk, Veronica and I have decided to call the KBO, the EDGEWORTH KBO from now on thanks to you Dave!
A bit of a bummer being told that Apophis may hit two days after my 66th birthday but I'll just get drunk and hopefully not notice!
