AI Invite IFAS reps to our StarB-Q was created by DaveGrennan
Guys apologies for the VERY late notice on this.
In the interests of fostering better relation between IFAS and Astronomy Ireland, the committee of Astronomy Ireland have asked my to extend an invitation to each IFAS affiliated club/society to send a representitive of your committee and (his/her guest), to our annual Star B-Q which is taking place tomorrow night (Sat 8th September) starting at 8pm. The venue is 'An-Tochar' GAA club in Roundwood Co.Wicklow. The weather for tomorrow night looks excellent. There will be enough food/telescopes there for everyone so if you'd like to come please call 8470777 tomorrow (early as possible please) or pm me and you'll be on the guest list.
If a member of the committee can't make it you are welcome to nominate a long standing member to represent your society.
All we ask is you come along, mingle and enjoy yourselves (remember limited to 2 tickets per club).
Hope to see some of you there.

Thanks for the very nice offer. Unfortunately the notice was a bit short so I fear you probably got a very limited response. It takes time to get committees together to decide wheter to go and who to send if they do choose to go.
Hope it goes well for you tonight.
Bart.

Its a bit far for me anyhow, but maybe next year we can organise a few lads to be there.

Hi,
Well I couldn't get in touch with Wally, and JohnF is doing a tour of starparties and telescopes in the US & Canada. So myself and Min went along for a couple of hours. Just back in fact.
Seemed to be about 400 there, bit over that perhaps. Lots of celestron scopes in the field plus the 21". And lots of Kids running around!
Judging by the questions being asked and the few people I spoke to the attendees were very much novices. All the people I spoke to were there for the first time. I suppose that's what you want an an event really. All seemed to be enjoying it.
Thanks again for the invite DG.
Cheers,
~Al

Given the late invite there was no chance of changing peoples plans. Hope the skies were kind.
Last time I'd an invite like this it was to a wedding. ie hope you can come, sorry for short notice (interpretation: know you will not be able to come but you are now expected to give a wedding present)
Dave, I hope your sky is good, I'm off to bed with my cloud blanket and billowing pillow
