By all accounts, John Mason's lecture in Belfast was a great success. Looking forward to seeing you all tonight in Gonzaga.

Hi all,
The Astronomy Sketch of the Day web site ( www.asod.info/?p=478 ) features just some of the many art submissions from schools around Dublin. These will be displayed at the John Mason lecture in Gonzaga and this weekend's Whirlpool Star Party. Many thanks to Deirdre Kelleghan for organising the art displays.
Paul Nugent of the Institute of Physics has sent details of an exciting schools competition being run by the European Southern Observatory ( www.eso.org/ ). Prizes include a trip to the European Southern Observatory in Chile. An Irish schools team were the first ever winners of the Catch A Star competition when it was launched in 2002. Your school could be next! More details at Catch A Star 2008 ( www.eso.org/catchastar/ )
