Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Hey there everyone.
I was down in Glendalough recently and on the noticeboard at the upper carpark, the one where they charge  , there was a notice for the IAS who are holding an observing session for the public on the 17th November. Can anyone fron IAS tell me if this is still going ahead? And which carpark is the meet?

Hi Paul,
Yes, as far as I know that observing evening is going ahead. Drop Deirdre Kelleghan a note on the boards here (Dee's user name is her actual name) and I'm sure she will have more details. The Leonids peak the same night so it could be quite dark although the mountains will block the view somewhat. I think the observing night will be close to the interpretive centre, at the lake edge. We saw the Perseids in 1993 from there -- although completely cloudy, you could see the flashes of the fireballs through the clouds!!!

All the best,
John

Hi Paul
Yes this is going ahead WEATHER PERMITTING OF COURSE
It will be close to the Upper Lake Car Park in Glendalough near the Education Center. I am waiting on word that the parking will be free, I will know this weekend and will post a poster soon.
Fingers crossed for a clear night and that Holmes will still be around
It seems to be changing shape from what I could see in Kildare last night.
All are welcome to the Star Party.
