Just to humour myself... I'm easily amused!

Ok, so we were to have an observing session last night in Tullamore. Planned for a little while, and with Friday night being clear, Saturday night being clear AND frosty, and Sunday night pretty clear, I thought "This looks good, I'm actually looking forward to observing on a night that I don't have to work!".

Sunny yesterday morning. Could even see the Moon up till about 11am before it set.

Not a bad day really... clear and crisp, the kind that you would expect a frosty night to follow.

Nice sunset, beautiful reds and pinks, very little cloud, some stars peeping out.

Mike OC rand about 18:45 from Kilcullen to see what it was like here. We both could see the Moon, but there was some cloud with a few stars seen in between.

So he said he'll take the jump and drive the hour to Tullamore. I said I'll go to.

We got there, and it was almost completely cloudy save for some slits of Moonlight near the horizon. Then Leo Daly came (lionsden), and Stephen Stokes came too. at 20:40, no sign of it clearing up, and it started to RAIN!!!

I am amazed how I kept my cool, so we went back to my gaff for tea and Viennese swirls, blueberry bagels, and mikados....

And that, my fellow amateur astronomers, was TAS's Observing Session last night!

Cripes! we're flying out to the US tomorrow and will be in New Mexico on Saturday for 3 nights - if its cloudy, THAT would be a bummer! Don't start getting me all worried now.

So - I know everyone on this site is really helpful. Can anyone find out the projected weather for NM for Sat/Sun/Mon - I haven't even got the suitcases out of the wardrobe yet!

Cheers!
Dave

After leaving your gaff, I got home around 11:30, with a few gaps in the clouds. Stuck my head out the back door just as I was going to bed (about 12:00'ish) and low and behold - not a cloud in the sky!
Typical, just bloody typical!.......

P.S.
Ta for the tea!
