There is a lunar eclipse on the 8th, but it might be of interest to some societies to organise a public night that week. It would be good to see the various clubs all out for the same event on the same night We could pool together and organise (and promote!) this as one big IFAS event hosted by the various clubs and societies if there is interest.
The skies could be more interesting, there will only be a fairly full moon to see that week, with perhaps glimpses of Mars and Saturn.
Events need to be `booked` by October 7th. So perhaps its something to talk about at the weekend, for those of you on the IFAS council
Cheers,
~Al

I think a co-ordinated Nationwide IFAS Moon watch hosted by all the differnt Member Clubs is a cool idea.
It could be a very good source of PR for IFAS. Basically we could gon on the radio and say "The IFAS member societies are holding a Moon Watch on this night, for more details contact your local club".
I will need to run it by the Maynooth committee but I don't see there being a problem.
Even if it will not be done as an IFAS event I am still going to try get something organised for the Eclipse here in Maynooth.
